This article will tell you how to keep your hair protected from pollution. Just keep reading.

How To Keep Your Hair Protected From Pollution During Diwali

1. Use the hair shampoo and conditioner:

It is very important to choose shampoos as per your hair type and scalp conditions. During festivities, it becomes even more important to keep your tresses well-nourished and protected. Since you all know, pollution from burning crackers during Diwali can harm your hair a lot, you should update your hair care routine to a new level. Choose a hair shampoo and conditioner that suits your hair type. There are many anti-pollution shampoos available in the market that guards well against the harmful effects. Invest in them during the festivals as it will detoxify and purify your tresses well. Also, follow up with an anti-pollution conditioner to nourish and replenish the lost nutrients.

2. A champi is a must:

I know most girls hate to apply oil on the hair, but believe me it prepares your hair against environmental damage. During Diwali, you should go for a regular hair-massage. It makes the hair strong and healthy and fights off ill-effects of pollution. Mostly, oils of Bringaraj, Brahmi and Hibiscus are to know have medicinal properties and they promote hair growth. Apply oil directly on the roots; this will reduce hair fall and will protect a shield from pollutants. Make this a part of your Diwali hair care routine if you want to keep your tresses safe from pollution.

3. Going outdoors with wet hair is a big no!

Hair Care. Beautiful Woman With Wet Hair In Towel After Bath

Do you know that wet hair is weak from within the roots?? When I say that, I mean that wet hair is susceptible to a lot of problems outside like attraction of dirt and pollutants, scalp problems, dandruff and so much more. May be you don’t have time to towel-dry or blow dry your hair, but that surely prohibits you from going outside with wet tresses. Take your time to dry your hair and then go out. Don’t ignore this hair care step, girls!!

4. Steam treatments can do wonders:

Pollution rips your hair off essential nutrients and moisture. During Diwali, this damage is even well-pronounced. It is time to recharge the lost moisture from the locks and restore the natural balance. To solve this problem, make steam treatment a part of your hair care routine and do it once or twice every week. This will keep frizziness at bay making your hair more manageable. A good steam treatment restores the moisture levels of your hair and provides it with a good health. Go for hot hair towel during the festive season to keep your tresses well-pampered.

5. Hair mask to the rescue:

And when I say that, it implies that pamper your tresses with a good hair mask. A hair mask will lock in moisture and guard your hair against pollution. How you can make it?? Use natural ingredients like eggs, honey, milk, strawberry and vinegar to prepare hair masks at home. Apply them on the strands and keep it for half an hour. Finally, rinse off with lukewarm water. You can also use pumpkin in your hair masks as it is a potential source of potassium that causes hair growth. Do this during Diwali and the results will surely be noticeable.

6. Coconut-oil treatment:

Bottles with fresh coconut oil on wooden table

Our grandmothers and mothers have always relied on coconut oil for strong hair. Even today, this oil is used to pamper your hair and get strong tresses. During Diwali, use some hot hair oil treatment to give it a moisture boost. Take coconut oil in a bowl and add a few drops of lemon juice to it. Do this a night before the festival. Keep it overnight. Rinse off next morning with a mild shampoo. This will protect your hair from pollution.

7. Enrich your hair with Moroccan argan oil:

After taking bath, nourish your hair with Argan oil as a hair serum. It provides your hair nice shine, restores and strengthens damaged hair, protects it from styling tools, and deeply conditions hair, reducing split ends and tames the frizzy and unmanageable hair. The treatment is really luxurious and good results are surely guaranteed!

8. Avoid using too much styling tools:

This is a well-known fact that the heat produced from styling tools causes damage to tour hair. This festive season, your hair has great chances of getting affected from outside pollution, so don’t aggravate the issue by using too much styling tools. Even if you do, use a heat protectant spray prior to that and follow up with a good hair serum. Also, avoid excessive coloring/ straightening of hair as it does not good to your tresses in the long run.

9. Go for a deep-conditioning hair spa at a salon:

Aloe vera gel is the universal solution to any beauty related problem. Apply aloevera gel on your hair as this will stop hair fall due to pollution. It also makes hair more shiny and manageable and imparts a nice shine to it. Take aloe vera gel and add a few drops of almond oil and apply this on your scalp. Harsh cold climate, extremely hot showers, friction against rough surfaces, exposure to sun, deficiency of vitamins, lack of moisture, harsh soaps and shower gels with sulphate are some of the causes of rough elbows and rough knees.

Rough Elbows:

If you have rough or dry skin around your elbows, you can try the following:

1. Moisturise With Shea And Almond Butter / Cream:
The skin around elbows is thicker and has a few sebaceous glands. Hence it is necessary to moisturise your elbows regularly. After your morning showers, apply shea or almond body butter or cream on your elbows using circular motions. Doing this daily will keep your skin protected and make the skin around your elbows soft and smooth. Moisturise your elbows before showering, so that it retains moisture and your skin does not become dry while bathing. Moisturise your elbows before sleeping, this will help sink moisture deep into the skin and repair your skin while you are asleep.

2. Apply SPF Sun Protection Cream Before Stepping Out:
If you tend to go out in the sun often and your elbows are exposed, apply an additional coat of body cream with SPF protection on your elbows. This will protect your skin around your elbows, keep it smooth and prevent it from becoming dry and rough.

The skin will absorb the moisture and retain it, so it does not feel dry.Alternatively can use a loofah, rough washcloth, exfoliating glove or a pumice stone to exfoliate the rough skin. First moisten your elbows and then exfoliate. Don’t scrub harshly or roughly, you have to get rid of the dry skin not worsen the situation.

In the case of women, it is a pretty well-established fact that people notice our nails and that in addition to our makeup and attire, good nail health goes a long way to create a good and long-lasting impression. So, having good nails is one less thing to worry about. Now, it is a matter of some concern to those who are not blessed with good nail health and in turn, are prone to brittle and peeling nails. So today, we shall devote some time to discuss how one can take good care of their nails so as to avoid brittle and peeling.

How to Take Care of Brittle Nails

So, without any further adieu, let us get started,

1. Olive Oil: It has been recommended by many experts that you can try to soak your nails in olive oil to fend off brittle and peeling of nails. It has been observed and corroborated by many that if one develops the habit of soaking one’s fingernails in virgin olive oil for 10-15 minutes per day for at least a month and then take it down to, say, twice a week thereafter, that there has been a significant improvement in the health of their nails. It is a reasonable home solution to the problem.

2. Multivitamin/Vitamin Supplementsː It is medically proven that bad nail health is due to a lack of essential vitamins. So the best, most convenient and obvious way around this is to take multivitamins to recover/ restore good nail health.

3. Hydrate Yourselfː Not too many people take notice of this and perhaps it is not too obvious but staying inadequately hydrated might be responsible for the bristling of nails. And this is something that can quite easily be avoided. Ensure that you are always properly hydrated. Take fluids, drink water to ensure good nail and overall physiological health.

4. Do Not Apply Polish on Your Nailsː It is advisable not to put on nail polish till one has assessed the extent of damage of one’s nails or the underlying causes thereof. It might just be that the chemicals in the polish that do not suit your nails. Cosmetic chemical incompatibility is a very common phenomenon.

5. Trim Your Nailsː It is a good practice to keep your nails trimmed and short so as to avoid further damage to them. Brittle nails can be protected from peeling if one is careful to keep them short to avoid damage to them. It is a sure, safe and hygienic way to maintain good nail health.

6. Put Protective Lotionː This is a simple remedy that works every time. Our nails get brittle over time due to the lack of moisture as well. So, by applying lotion on them we repair them via moisturization.

7. Do Not Use Nails to Open Boxes or Bottlesː This is a very bad practice and is guaranteed to leave you with uneven and peeled nails more than you can think of. Your nails are not knives or box/letter openers, so kindly refrain from using them as such.

8. Avoid Hand Sanitizersː It is not a very well known fact but hand sanitizers have the side effect of removing moisture from our skin/hands. And although that ensures clean and sanitized hands, it is rather detrimental to those who suffer from brittle nails. So, avoid putting hand sanitizers on your nails. Best is to use water and soap to clean your hands as far as it is plausible and practicable.

How to Get Slim Hands

Today, we shall take up an issue that promises to be quite intriguing and of genuine interest to those who complain of having, well not to put a fine point on it, un-slim hands. And although people across the spectrum of health and wellness, gym advocates and enthusiasts, and makeup savants have spent an inordinate amount of time and public space in taking up the more common of complaints pertaining to how to slim down, how to maintain weight, how to keep your hair, what should be the ideal diet, how to exercise properly, what to eat or drink – the one that usually goes unaddressed pertains to concern such as our title today. That’s why today we have decided to put pen on paper and try to list a few easy and sure ways to slim your hands.

How to Get Slim Hands

So, without any further ado, let us get started;

1. Making a Fist: This one comes quite highly recommended and it has been around for years now, usually getting prescribed by orthopedics and sports medicine specialists to those who complain of joint pain in their hands. But, it is found to be rather effective to give slim hands and slender fingers as well. All you need to do is make a fist with your hands until you feel the tightness – hold that position for 30 seconds- and then repeat the process some 15-20 times per session per day.

2. The Grip Exercise: It is a slight variation of the medically approved ‘making a fist’ routine – with one minor twist. You first make a DIY stress ball for yourself – or you may go online/to the market and buy a squeezy ball for yourself. Then all you need to do is take the ball in your hands, grip it hard for a solid 30 seconds, repeat the process 10-20 times per session per day and within a few weeks, it will show guaranteed results.

3. Making a Claw: This is a simple enough exercise to get slim hands. All you need to do is touch the base/joint of your fingers with the tip of the same. This gives your hands a claw-like appearance and hence the name. Hold this position for 30-60 seconds and then release and repeat it like 10 times per day. It is guaranteed to show positive results in a few weeks’ time.

4. The Pinch Hold: This is a slight variation of the grip exercise, where you pinch your DIY stress/ squeezy ball for 60 seconds for about 10 – 15 times per day. Pinch the ball with your index finger. This will not only slim your hands but also strengthen them at the same time.

5. The Finger Stretch: This is a pretty straightforward exercise that is directed to not only slim your hands down but is also aimed to strengthen them as well. All you need to do is put your palms flat on the top of a flat surface, like a tabletop – and then gently straighten your fingers against the surface but without forcing your joints. This is a simple routine and it will surely slim your hands.

6. The Finger Lifts Exercise: You keep your palms face down on a flat surface as you had them while performing the finger stretch. Now you lift each finger individually, one after the other, repeat it like 10-15 times. Then you lift all your fingers together for 3 times and then you do the exercise all over again for another 5-6 times per session. It is guaranteed to yield positive results.

7. The Thumb Extension: You hold your hands up straight, and then, with your palm stretched out; you gently extend your thumb to an outreached position, hold it for about a minute and then bring it back slowly. Repeat the process about 10 times per session per day. It will help you slim your hands for sure.

8. The Thumb Flex: Keeping your palms in exactly the same position and orientation as before, you touch the base/finger joint of the ‘pinky’ finger/the small end finger and hold the position for about a minute and then release. Like before, repeat the process for about 10 times per day. It will slim your hands as well as help you get rid of finger joint pains (if you ever had any).
